Justin Dunlop arrives for Earthworm Australia
Our new Business Development Manager has quickly found his feet in our Australian office. We sat down for a chat with Justin Dunlop on the eve of his first expo appearance for Earthworm.
Some coaches say that “you can’t teach hustle”. It’s this internal mindset, the hunger for the best result, that elevates the performers above the plodders.

It’s why, after only a short time in the role, we’re happy that Justin is here at Earthworm. While new here, he has the experience and, as importantly, the ethos to make good things happen for our customers. With patience and perseverance (as he says, “an attitude that we will win, if not today, then tomorrow”) Justin is ready to step up in the new role.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Bowral in NSW. Then I lived in Canberra for 10 years before returning to Bowral not that long ago. It’s good to be home again.
What attracted you to the position at Earthworm?
It was the proactive open-minded culture of the company. You’re known as a ‘coal face’ distributor, one that works really closely with your customers and understands the value of after-sales service and support.
What does a typical day look like in your job?
It’s research, quotes and follow-up, follow-up, follow-up. I’m learning every day, so there’s always a lot to read and watch. Ultimately, anything that needs to be done I’ll get done. It’s always been about machines, mechanics, and understanding how something works.
What are the highlights of the work?
It’s the technical side of sales – providing a solution that someone else couldn’t or didn’t bother to find. There is always a different application for an attachment and overcoming someone’s equipment problems or helping them get more from machine is rewarding.
What’s important to get right? What expertise do you need to have?
Everyone is unique, and building longer term relationships with customer beyond a sale is very important to me. So, it’s important get the small details right. This can make or break the customer experience. I’m looking forward to becoming a trusted advisor within the industry thanks to these good customer experiences.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I have a wife and two young kids, so when I’m not at work it’s all about family time. We aren’t far from the coast, which makes this a great place for relaxing with them.
